CUP and Citibank launch ATM access for customers

UnionPay (CUP) or the Citibank cards can use cash machines of both groups
as of April 9.
The two groups officially launched Automated Teller Machine (ATM) access
for customers of each other on Tuesday, CUP told China News Service. It
is the first time for CUP to expand such service with foreign-invested
banks.
The launch of the service would promote mutual benefit and reach a
win-win result for the two groups in the field of ATM service and provide
convenience for their customers as well. After the opening of the
service, CUP cardholders are allowed to withdraw cash from Citibank��s
ATMs in around 36 countries and regions, while Citibank cardholders can
draw money from 8,300 ATMs linked to CUP's network.
It was a happy event for CUP to establish close cooperative relationship
with the Citibank, which has been in the lead in offering international
retail banking services, and the cooperation would better fulfill the
demand of cardholders during the expansion of CUP��s overseas network
,said executive vice president Liu Yongchun of CUP.
Li Yawen, general manager of China division of international retail and
financing products and service of the Citibank, said that he expected the
further cooperation with CUP would be enhanced, that benefiting the
carholders of the two groups.
